Listening to: "Dead Moon" (SuperS BGM)

Okay, so I'm pretty sure I've told you all about the grand horror of "Night" by Elie Wiesel, and how it's a greatbook, but it makes you feel like shit after you read it.

Anyway, I'm at the library the other day, and I stumble upon Night/Dawn/Day. I'm aware of how depressed I was after reading Night.

...I check the book out anyway.

I'm afraid to read it. I want to, no I have to.

...But I can't.

Why?

O_____O

Something interesting actually happened in this town... Which is a little bit old news, but it didn't really affect me until now.

See, a couple weeks ago, somebody murdered a woman (I didn't know) in her own house.

Well, they arrested someone, and he confessed. He used to live down the street from my family, and my brother played basketball with him when he was younger. I'm a little spooked, currently.

You are TENJOU UTENA
You prize nobility above all else, striving to be reunited with your prince. Apart from this, you treasure your friendships most of all. Unwilling to compromise your values in search of your dreams, you often seem to create more trouble than solve it. However, your persistence is what sets you apart from all others.

Take the "What Magic Girl are you?" Quiz

Also known widely as the Fire Bird, the phoenix is a profound symbol of the circle of life. It has a life cycle of 500 to 600 ears and after that amount of time, it sets itself on fire and dies in the flames. Then after three days, it rises again from the ashes. It is a completely benign creature who lives in dew. It is said that the phoenix has a beautiful melidous song which grows ever more mournful as its life comes to an end. It is a symbol of the sun and immortality. The phoenix is a very worthwhile beast.

What mythical beast best represents you?Take the quiz!

Aww, c'mon, you can't forget Salute Your Shorts!

And, as if I didn't have reason enough to believe that there probably isn't a Catholic God, Wild & Crazy Kids is coming back. No, not reruns, new episodes. THat's just wrong. It's gonna ruin the nostalgia and crap-ify the name...

Although the third season wasn't that great. They were running out of ideas and replaced the (cool) female host with some red-haired airhead.
Wow. TNN actually has a use.

Serving my 15-year-old nostalgic needs with weekday airings of AMerican Gladiators.

Yes, it is possible for 15-year-old people to be nostalgic. Remember when the only cartoons on Nick were Nick Jr? And even when they came, rmemeber the original (good) Doug & Rugrats? And Ren & Stimpy? What the hell happened?

Her name is Dez. And there's a possibilyity that she'll be beack in season three while Laurie's on maternity leave.

Of the people who left the show after S1, it's easy to believe that she left of her own free will. Alex, on the other hand...

I just saw a S1 episode of Trading Spaces.

What happened to... the older lady who makes funny lamps whose name I already forget?
Listening to: Dancer in a Daydream By: If you don't know, I'm not telling you. (If I ever make a band, that'll be the name! HEe!)

No, I'm not dead. Nothing interesting has happened, is all.

I adopted a useless blob. He's dancing about down at the bottom of the page.

Excuse me, I have to go flip the chicken fingers...

So... yeah.

If I somehow end up with a daughter, her name will be Elspeth.

That's all.

Woo. Tommorow is the Fourth of July. Time to wave some little flags, profess undying love for the country, and forget about it the next day.

Or at least, that's what most other people are gonna do. Becasue that's what you're "supposed" to do. You only have to "love" the country one day out of the year, so you'd better do it BIG... Feh.

Just once, (Okay, all the time, really, but I do try to make my wishes attainamble...), I'd like to see someone with the same kind of enthusiasm towards the country on some other day. And to not exhibit it through some inane joviality, but by trying to help the great afflited thing that desperately needs some real love and care.

People treat the country like the mother they sent to a nursing home because they considered her a burden. Sure, you "love" her when asked, but do you ever do anything to show that? That's what I thought.

The country, of course, is by no means dying, but it sure isn't healthy. We're still suffering many of the problems we were a hundred years ago. Prejudice. Poverty. Squalid living in the heart of prosperous cities. Overcrowding. Massively growing industry with no checks and shady practices. Crime. Political corruption. And on top of those, drugs and alcohol have gone from casual, though somewhat often excessive, use by adults 99% of the time that was just something to loosen you inhibitions enough to be comfortable around other socialites ('cause really, you'd have to be drunk to put up with some of the people in high society then...) to rampant, life-driving use, now focused more on drugs than drinking and widely available to youth.

But now, those who act for reform are considered to be "conservative" or "liberal" despite the oddly similar base reason for their actions (Making things better, as they should be.) Back then, reform was the driving political movement. Now, there isn't really any major drive. There's some focus on the economy, which gets more attention than it needs, really. It's easier to stabilize it when announcements of plans are enough to change the state of it, I would think. And why, exactly, was the military strenghth such an issure before "Dubya" was even running for the presidency? As far as I know, we were at peace. And, of course, getting the presidency is accomplished thorugh adopting positions that make you popular, not adopting positions that will most definitely help the country where it needs help...

And, getting back on topic... If everybody loves this country so much, why do they hate so many of it's inhabitants? How do you love "America" (Which isn't even a country, it's a hemisphere...) if you don't love the Americans? It makes absolutely no sense. So tomorrow, I celebrate not my love for this country, because I don't have enough to celebrate. I certainly don't hate it, but I can't love a country that breeds such hypocracy.

I will, however, take place in the festivites that I can, because, well... they're festive.

...And things go boom and get shiny.

Heh. Me? Narcissistic? I can see how that happened witht he questions, but for a couple, I answered yes because people have accused me of self-centeredness & similar stuff, but done so wrongly. Just 'cause I don't care for others doesn't mean that I care a ton for me.
